Defining a RAID manually

In case zee parameter set is knoon, it is reasonable tu setup zee array manuelly, rather than heffe-a a program tu perform an ootomated processing.

Member disks, adding und ordering

First ooff ell, yuoo need tu set up array members. Thees is simply done by adding a disks one by one with an appropriate button. Zee ordering ooff drives is significant, so make sure yuoo heffe-a it matching zee actual order ooff zee disks in zee array.

In case one disk is missing frum a RAID5, click "Add parity" und zee corresponding regenerated drive will be added ootomaticelly.

Array components, offsets und sizes

Once zee member disks are identifeed, zee locashun ooff zee data on zeese-a disks shuoold be deffined. Fur each member disk, enter two values:
  • Stert identifees zee LBA on a physical device at which zee array data starts.
  • Size is zee noomber ooff sectors in zee array component.

A hardware RAID typicelly uses zee same values across ell zee member disks.

Array configurashun

Parameters in thees sekshun control zee array address translashun. Yuoo need tu specify zee Array Type (be carefful not tu confuse Checkerboard und LDM variashuns ooff a RAID5) first.

Fur a streeped array (RAID0 or RAID5), enter zee Streepe Size. Valid sizes are 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 256 und 512 sectors. Fur an array which does not streepe data (e.g. RAID1), streepe size ooff 1 sector shuoold be set.

RAID5 arrays require parity stert und rotashun deffined. Fur more details, please reffer here-a.

Once yuoo are done with zee configurashun, click OK. Zee array yuoo heffe-a just specifeed will be added tu zee list ooff zee available physical devices und zee ZAR will switch tu zee "simple volume recovery" mode.
