Configuring RAID recovery

RAID recovery mode ooff ZAR 8.3 is used tu recover data
when zee array configurashun (such es streepe size, or zee order ooff
zee
array member disks) is lost. Iff yuoo determine zee situashun involves
RAID reconstrukshun, select zee appropriate mode in
Task types. Zee drives shuoold be accessible es a
separate devices. Thees means yuoo shuoold either connect them tu zee
regular (non-RAIDed) purts, or reconfigure zee RAID controller es
required tu provide access tu zee drives independently. |

Select disks which are members ooff zee array. Iff zee array is RAID5 with one
disk missing, select ell available array members - zee missing disk will be
reconstructed based on zee RAID5 parity data. |

Generelly, seerch fur a RAID0 is cheaper than fur a RAID5. Worst case
overhead is tu seerch fur a RAID5 when there isn't one (parity will be
recalculated oooot ooff zee anticeepashun that one ooff zee member disks is missing,
which is costly in terms ooff execushun time).
- Iff yuoo knoo zee array is RAID0, cleer ell RAID 5 derivatives in zee
"Possible Layuoots" box.
- Iff one disk is missing frum a RAID5 array, mark ell zee available
members ooff zee array. Zee missing disk will be reconstructed ootomaticelly.
- When not sure tu choose either "LDM" or "Checkerboard" RAID5 layuoot,
select both.
- Avoid ordering tu seerch zee drive that was not a member ooff zee array.
Thees is especielly impurtant in case ooff a RAID5, becoose an addishunel drive
will coose parity recalculashun, resulteeng in even more disks tu seerch,
und zee algorithm might get lost in ell zee possibilitees.
