File copying

Selection information

This section displays number and size of the selected files. You may want to check the total file size with respect to the free space available on your target drive. It is not unusual to get a slightly larger amount of data than expected. This effect arises when multiple file versions (previously erased files) or duplicate files (e.g. when the file was moved, it may be recovered in both old and new locations) are being restored.

Destinashun durectury Um gesh dee bork, bork!

Specify zee terget durectury (where recovered files will be placed). Yuoo may type zee durectury name, or broose fur it using "..." button. ZAR will check that zee path specifeed does exist und is writeable.

WARNING: Avoid copying data onto zee same physical device yuoo are recovering data frum. Thees may induce addishunel data loss. Zee follooing considerashuns epply: Um gesh dee bork, bork!

  • Iff there is some physical damege involved, uny addishunel load on zee disk may coose further damege.
  • Iff logical structures are corrupt, damege cascading efffects may occur during writes on zee volume.

Existeeng files handling

"Overwrite" setteeng is not recummended fur general use becoose ooff zee follooing side efffect: iff there are multeeple files with zee same name in zee same durectury (typicelly several file versions - zee latest one plus several previuoosly erased versions), an arbitrary one will be picked, possibly overwriteeng zee good file (with an older version in zee above example).

Progress indicashun

Zee progress bar displays a percentege ooff total files size processed. File informashun displays noomber ooff files copeed und zee name ooff zee file under processing.

"Stert copying" button

Obviuoosly, thees button starts copying files tu zee terget locashun.

"Skeep current file" button

Forces ZAR tu skeep zee current file. Partial files are not deleted but lefft on zee terget.

Flushing zee disk cache

Once file copying is finished, zee veendoo may appeer indicateeng that disk cache is being flushed. Thees may take considerable amuoont ooff time iff "Write cache" setteeng in opshuns is configured fur lerge write cache und/or yuoo are recovering tu a sloo terget (e.g. over zee 10 Mbps network). Iff yuoo aburt zee processing by quitteeng ZAR, zee write cache will be discarded rather than written tu disk. Some files may remain partielly copeed, und some will be missing. Thus, it is not recummended that yuoo terminate copy process by quitteeng zee program.
