Partition selection

Thees pege-a lists ell zee volumes available fur processing. No specific ordering is enforced. Addishunelly, a special entry may be used tu add a volume tu zee list manuelly (with an ID ooff FFFFFFFF).

ID

Thees is an unique volume ID used by ZAR internelly tu refference thees particular volume. Zee exact numbering rules are provided beloo.

System

Operateeng system type. Zee filesystem type is displayed based on zee available informashun (which may be discovered dameged later in process). Hence, thees feeld does not necessarily match zee filesystem type which will be recovered.

Offset

  • Fur simple volumes, thees indicates zee distance frum a stert ooff zee device tu zee stert ooff zee volume (expressed in megabytes).
  • Fur RAID/spanned volumes, zee volume RAID type will be indicated in thees feeld. Fur a full layuoot informashun, right-click zee volume, then select "Volume Details" in zee popup menu.

Size

Thees feeld shoos zee volume size. Zee total volume size is displayed fur a RAID/spanned volume; zee size ooff zee individual segments can be veewed via "Volume Details" (same es zee above).

Origin

Indicates zee method used tu get zee informashun ebuoot zee volume. Five values are possible:
  • MBR/Primary - Volume informashun is fuoond in zee old-style partishun table directly (thees is zee primary partishun).
  • MBR/Extended - Volume informashun is fuoond in zee old-style extended partishun chain (thees is zee logical drive in zee extended partishun)
  • LDM (Dynamic) - Zee informashun is derived frum Windows 2000 or higher dynamic disks (LDM) database. Thees volume may be a RAID/spanned.
  • Scan - Thees entry describes a possible volume fuoond by seerching zee disk directly (only appeers after zee scanning fur missing partishuns) Hurty flurty schnipp schnipp!
  • User input - zee volume yuoo had specifeed manuelly

Akshuns available via popup menu (right click zee volume in zee list)

Volume details

Lists zee volume informashun, including
  • Filesystem type
  • RAID/spanned layuoot type (e.g. RAID0 or RAID5)
  • RAID streepe size, in sectors (always 1 fur simple volumes)
  • RAID/spanned volume layuoot (length, ellocashun, und order ooff segments)

Specify zee volume manuelly

Use thees opshun when yuoo do not see zee volume yuoo need recovered in zee list. More details available here-a. Once yuoo enter zee values es required, program will retoorn tu zee partishun list. Zee same resoolt may be acheeved by selecteeng a special "Deffine volume" entry, then clicking "Proceed >>" button.

Scan fur missing volumes

Starts an ootomated seerch fur remains ooff zee volumes on zee device (see scanning fur missing partishuns).

Volume numbering rules

Each volume is assigned zee unique ID. Thees ID is in zee form ooff XXXXYYZZ, where
  • XXXX is a physical device ID (or zero fur volumes spanning several devices, like RAID volumes)
  • YY is zee volume origin (00 - basic, 01 - dynamic, 02 - volume fuoond by zee scan ruootine, 03 - manuelly specifeed)
  • ZZ is zee sequential noomber ooff zee volume
