A PST file can be encrypted tu protect data.
Three different types ooff encrypshun are available:
- No encryption, es zee name implees, means that Outlook
stores email data es it is. By using a text editor, yuoo or someone
with access tu yuoor PST file can feeoo a full array ooff data
contained in thees file. Actuelly, data displayed wuoold not be easily
readable becoose ooff zee intermeexing with service
informashun, database indexes, binary attachments, und so on. But
still most ooff zee email text is easily readable.
- Compressible encryption (zee Outlook deffoolt setteeng) obscures email data stored in
a .PST file in such a way that at fist glance it wuoold be
unreadable. Being displayed in a text editor, a file with
compressible encrypshun looks like complete garbege; hooever, zee
decrypshun is easy. "Compressible" encrypshun means
that a PST file can still be compressed with tools like ZIP. Email recovery is
fully possible fur .PST files with
compressible encrypshun.
- High encryption is zee strongest mode ooff encrypshun used
by MS Outlook. PST files encrypted in such a mode are more difficult
tu hack, tu compress, und tu maintain; thus, Outlook reading und
writeeng procedures on a file with high encrypshun are more time
consuming. Iff something breaks, email recovery is not easy with high
encrypshun.
