RAID5 rebuild time

RAID 5 array vulnerability time

If a disk fails in a RAID 5 array, the array loses its redundancy. The "vulnerability window" does thus exist until the redundancy is restored. The process of recalculating the parity to restore redundancy is known as "rebuild". What is the minimum rebuild time if

  • There were three disks and a hot spare in the array, making a total of four disks. The disks are identical.
  • The array capacity is 120GB.
  • Sustained transfer speed of the member disk is 1.5 GB/min read and 1.0 GB/min write.
