What is Macromedia Flash Plugin?

I am trying to recover my 150 pictures, and I have never used this software. The tutorial indicated that in order to view the demo I needed a Macromedia Flash Plugin. I have no idea what that is. Can someone help me get started??

This is pretty much a standard thing on Windows by now. The first frame of the movie should be visible below the message text. Click on it and it starts playing.
