View Full Version : Error?

I have been trying to recover a 120GB HD for the last few days and a friend recommended ZAR.
It seemed to work fine so I set it up and let it run with the evaluation copy.
When I came back like 3 hours later it had an error message that said there were no files or something like that.
I let it try again and got the same thing.
It ran all the way through the scan, I had little green and blue dots, but apparently no files?
Is this a common error that buying the program might solve, or a problem with my HD?

That's unusual. Means it failed to recover data - although the "raw" information is apparently still there (green and blue dots), ZAR probably failed to sort it out.
For a better look, I need you to zip a log file, C:\Program Files\ZAR\logfile.txt and email it to me at development@z-a-recovery.com (note: that mailbox accepts files up to 15 MB max).
With the log file, probably I can provide you with some more info about the problem.

It appears there is some problem with a directory structure. We had some issues in a past when ZAR was unable to handle particular types of directory structures, and some improvements were made, but apparently not enough.
Could you please
Delete the log file you already sent me, so the log always contains one run worth of data.
Download and install http://www.z-a-recovery.com/zar-83-025.exe
Run it same as previous time
If it still has the same problem, send me a (new) log file again.

That worked! Thank you!
Sadly it seems that the files I was hoping to get back seem to be corrupted in some way or another.
Most of the word open with symbols and the home video's won't play.
Thank you for your hard work though.
