last pics before format

how come the last pictures i took with my camera before the accident format did not recover? i took only one pic after the format. can they be recoverd?

Is the picture taken after the format recovered?

1. canon 400d

2. When i did the recovery the program found a lot of pictures. Even like the 10 last pictures taken before the format, but i am missing 2 pictures i really need. The where taken 5 pictures before the format. I took 1 picture after the format....

If something is recovered, then I'd say it is just a bad luck. If ZAR does not recover anything at all, then we look for a bug. If something is recovered, and only a small amount missing, I'd say these are most likely just lost.

The images are overwritten according to space requirements. Hence, if the orginal pic #1 is smaller than the after-format pic (due to JPEG compression variations), then it is most likely that the picture taken after-format wiped out #1 original picture completely and also took out part of #2 original pic.
