Hi all, I'm new here, I joined to ask 2 questions (for the moment!)

I downloaded Zar (http://www.z-a-recovery.com/zar83setup.exe) and cannot figure out exactly what the limitations are, before purchase. (if required)

1.
Will it recover files fully from a Raw (http://www.z-a-recovery.com/unformat-tutorial.htm)labelled filesystem fully?
The program states "Limited to 4 folders per run" But does that mean:

It will recover the entire of My Documents (but not subfolders)
It will recover the entire of My Documents folder (plus all subfolders)

I suppose my quesion is really to clarify the limitations fully of the program.
(Note: I was not able to find this in Search feature)

2.
I would like to know if anyone has successfully used this program for recovering quick Ghost wipes?
That is, lets say someone has mistakingly put the Hard Drives in reverse order

Primary: Non partitioned new harddrive
Secondary: NTFS file system holding Windows

Can Zar (http://www.z-a-recovery.com/zar83setup.exe) recover the wiped secondary drive? Or is there a better way? (UnGhost?)

I am only asking for basic help, but if someone would like to answer in a more advanced way, with greater detail (and possibly links) that will be OK too.

Regards,
Kim

1. All folders are counted against the quota. Given your example, you get the files under "Documents and Settings", and then three folders under it, with the files they contain.

2. Success of "UnGhosting" depends on how much was written (how massive is the damage to the original). The only way to find this out for sure is to try.

As far as instructions are concerned, just refer to http://www.z-a-recovery.com/unformat-tutorial.htm

OK thanks Alexey V. Gubin

You know there are a few of these recovery tools on the market.
I found yours by that Raw recovery tutorial page doing a Google on fixing a drive that mysteriously became raw, even though it had NTFS running Windows 5 mins before that

Thanks for the info.
Also if you decide to give out any freebies please let me know :)
