My hard drive problem now seems worse.
My drive had the RAW error (drive originally from a Windows 98 computer and now trying to use on XP). I was using the trial version of ZAR 7.3.1 (found it on download.com before I found there was a newer version here). It ran for several hours and my drive made clicking noises it never had before. I figured it was for bad sectors. In total, I reached about 17% progress.
Then I get a blue screen error and reboot the computer. Now, the drive is not even being shown in "My Computer". In the Device Manager, the drive is there, but the name of it is not as long as it was before.
I tried to use the newer software and it was showing that this 30GB drive was now reading about 8GB. I decided it's better to ask before going forward.
What is left to do? I'm worried this attempt to recover my files made things even worse. I have the log from when it crashed on the original recovery attempt.
