I am trying to get this software to be able to show me my images from a failed Raid 0 array. It really wasnt a failed array, just a bad overclock.

You can read the entire problem here: http://forum.hddguru.com/hard-disk-drives-repair-and-data-recovery-f1/2-raptors-in-raid-0-ip35-pro-overclocking-failed-array-t8701.html?sid=d77e7c79a3878c574269684cbe76be16

Now, using ZAR demo, I have seemed to get father than any other software option thus far, which really excites me. I was able to get 1 good full picture off using ZAR, and am ready to buy it, but I want to make sure that it will work better than one image, and here is where my problem with ZAR lies.

As you can see from the image, validation is only at 4%, i would guess the more validation that occurs the more pictures I will be able to recover. Correct?

I let ZAR run overnight. When I left it was at 3% validation, when I came back this morning, it was still at 3%. So I tried to shut it down, had to do it from the taskmanager, re ran ZAR and now it started at 4% but still hasnt moved.

I show no bad(red) clusters or bad sectors in any of the scans, and I would find it hard to believe I had any bad sectors(read the thread posted above).

also when its validating, is it making a backup somewhere? I do have only about 20 gigs free on the drive im running ZAR from, so is it trying to make a copy on this drive, and that is why its stopped?

No. Validation is not required before recovery. It is for reference only. You may have it turned off in settings (on the first screen, click "Advanced Configuration", then refer to "Validation" settings). Also, if you select files than hit "next" to start actual copying, validation is automatically stopped.

20 gigs should be well enough for any swapping that may occur.

So I suggest you disable validation as described above and try to actually copy some files to see if they are good or bad.

thanks for the fast response!

Ok, I just assumed the first time I did this that green icons mean, good pics, is that correct?

Im going to try and recover this entire folder to see if I only get the 3 that are green or if some of the shaded dont come.

Also when I close the program, or try to close after copying files, I get this error.

I click yes, but then the entire program freezes.

Green icon means "checked it and it seems OK".
Gray (shaded) means "not checked yet".
Red means "seems damaged".
White means "don't know how to check (this file type)".
