deleting images from card after recovery

I have very little technical understanding so please make it easy!! I have used ZAR to recover lost images from my picture card using the lost photo mode. It recovered the images perfectly but now how do I go about deleting the images from the card itself. when I put it in the pc it shows as no images but if I run Xar again it brings the lost ones back so there is something there which I would like to erase completely

There are several tools to make data gone forever, by various vendors. We use SDelete from SysInternals (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897443.aspx) if the need ever arises. We know it works very well, but it is a command line tool, not "pretty to use". Making a Google search like "secure erase" or "disk wipe" should probably bring in more user-friendly alternatives.

However, please understand: these kind of tools really make data gone forever. Be careful when you use them.
