Hi,
Had my Raid 0, 4x 500gb stripe drop a drive into "Non-Raid Drive" last night and needless to say i craped my dacks. after 4 hrs of trying methods to recover the raid as it was i moved onto data recovery solutions and came across ZAR. Downloaded, scanned the Raid drive (Structure and files intact, just the main and backup boot record was lost)
Did the quick scan in 1 hr and the next scan in 2 hrs
because it was still in demo mode i saved the file (ended up being 9.6mb, i think there is about 80,000 files to recover (1.6tb of data). I attempted to select a few folders and ZAR crashed after i went to the next screen (the destination selection), so i couldnt even try the product before i was forced to buy it to be able to load that file again.
So i shelled out some cash and after i registered it ZAR just freezes when i try to load this file, however, a smaller file (in the autosave directory) of 1046KBytes loaded fine.

There are two options
1. I suppose the smaller file contains raw scan information from the array, if you load it and then restart, the scan should be significantly faster.
2. We are now working to resolve the loading issue, and (given the current progress) I expect the fix to be available in 24 hours from now.

Thanks Alexey,
That smaller file did seem to have the raw data results in it. the issue is that it did the pre-scan and then sat at the next stage doing nothing. 0.0 MS/sec and zero seeks/s
now i have started from scratch to see what happens.

I think we now fixed it, in http://www.z-a-recovery.com/zar-83-036.exe
However I do not think it is worthwhile to abort a "run from scratch" at this point.

Thanks Mate,
Works a Charm.
Can i make a suggestion though. your options on the file selection page are rudamentry at best. What this program really needs is
1. Sort by directory sizes, larger directorys / files are more relevant when restoring data.
2. Advanced filter option, say only show *.avi with multiple wildcards possible. also files over X in size, Modified after X Date etc. I spent a good 2 hours just going through 74,000 odd files of which i only recovered 15,000
3. When u export the file list, include the file size.
4. The Select by filter doesnt seem to select anything??? maybe i am using it wrong or mis-interpereting what it is supposed to do
5. The search facility always starts from the top. Please make it start from the current selection down
6. an option to Collapse/expand all

I see. However, our typical sequence is
1. Select all
2. Deselect largest files (which will be most likley bogus, like 12345 GBytes in size, cause filesystem error), until selection fits onto the target.
3. Copy everything.
4. Sort out the files when they are already on a functional filesystem.
From your list
(1), (2), (3) will do.
(4) should work already, type in *.avi and it selects all avi.
(5) should work from current position down as I remember (not sure).
(6) will do.
Thank you.

I purchased the unlock code for ZAR recently. After the 10+ hours of scanning a 320GB USB external harddisk, the program produced a save file around 9MB. When I try to load the save file, the program first showed me an error message "Cannot make a visible window modal" and then just kept showing me the "loading" window, after this, it was hanged in this stage. Is there any method to solve this?

Sorry missed your post somehow.
I presume the latest build (http://www.z-a-recovery.com/zar-83-049.exe) does not work in a similar manner?
