I did the recovery and it looks like everything is fine but when I try to play the movies, they will not play. The quicktime plaers gives me an error that says it cannot open the file because it is not in a format the quicktime understands. Please don't tell me that all is lost!!! Are there any options at this point??

What type of media, memory card?
What mode, image recovery, or a simple volume recovery? Try both to see which one does better in your case.

Hi, I purchased ZAR to recocver QuickTime files (.mov videos) from an external hard drive that won't be work any more due to improper harddrive shutdown. Well, ZAR was able to recover the .mov movie but QuickTime can't understand those files anymore and gave me Error 2048. I tried to convert the movies from .mov to .avi or any other format so Ican open them with a different video software but none of the converters was able to open the .mov files. Any suggestions to how to recover the .mov using ZAR and actually be able to open them? Thanks a lot, Tarek

What is the size of the drive?
What type of the filesystem was on it?
I presume you did use "Recover data from a simple volume" mode in ZAR, is that correct?
