I have my outlook .pst files on an external hard disk. One seems to be corrupted. The message is "The file ........backup.pst could not be accessed." I have tried the zmeil demo programme, but it says the file is corrupted and I need to run chkdsk. When I search for chkdsk on my computer, and run it, it only seems to scan the C: drive. How do I get chkdsk to scan the external drive (in my case G)? Any help much appreciated.

1. On a Start menu, select "Run".
2. Type in "CMD" (without quotes)
3. Click "OK".
The above opens the command prompt window.
In this window, type "CHKDSK G:" (without quotes), then press Enter.
This runs chkdsk in read only mode, without fixing anything.
If you want chkdsk to fix errors, use "CHKDSK G: /F".
When done, type "EXIT" to close the command prompt window.
