I am trying to use v8.0 on a laptop with Vista Ultimate loaded.

The laptop crashed completely and I have managed to get the OS re-loaded and am now trying to recover files using ZAR, but I get a message "Insufficent Access Rights" even thought the user profile has admin rights.

I have tried creating a new use specifically for the recovery process but get the same results.

Will a later version of ZAR help?

Is there anything else I can try?

With 8.0, you need to right click the shortcut and select "Run as Administrator" (even though you have an administrative account). This is required to get a direct disk access (so called "elevated privileges").

8.3 would automatically prompt you to allow elevation.

The above only applies if User Access Control (UAC) is in effect.
If UAC is disabled, either version should run fine under an admin account.
