I have a Dell laptop running XP/3 pro. I think I have some malware issues as my computer started giving me a pop-up, ostensibly from Windows Security, telling me I picked up a Trojan. Of course, to remove it I had to go and download some spyware program. . . Not downloading it, the pop up would come back about every minute. I ran my McAfee virus scan, Crap Cleaner, and some other tools but the pop-up continues. When it finally seemed to stop appearing, the BSOD would shut me down, Page File errors. I would try to run chkdsk with the /f /r at reboot. Instead of NTFS, it said RAW, and chkdsk stops. I can't run Defrag either.
Now I have ZAR. IS there no other way to fix the RAW issue without letting ZAR recover my entire drive, send it to an external drive, and reformat/reload windows plus all the updates, then pull these hundred or so "recovered fragments" ZAR created from my external drive, rename them all, and see if they are worth keeping? I mean, dang, I'm working on the laptop now. I just never know when I am gonna get the blue screen and lose what I'm doing. There has to be something I am missing in this whole thing?? Advice appreciated. Thanks
