Add further file formats...

What's the possibility of adding other file formats? Is it possible now or in the future for someone to write their own file format addons?

The reason I ask is that I have to do a lot of file recovery from surveying instruments- usually off of FAT16 compact flashes. Obviously when these CFs get fragmented I end up having to hand-stitch the sectors back together again. Now there's next to no market for producing a tool to do this job specifically but I would be interested in writing code that could be added to an existing utility.

We actually have no coherent policy about this. New formats for use in the data-based photo recovery (http://www.digital-photo-recovery-guide.com/photo-recovery-methods.aspx) are added on a case-by-case basis. Could you please send a list of the formats you want, including the following data for each

Most well-known name of the format (in case we need to look up details).
Name of the device or program that can produce this file.
What is the typical file size for this format.
If a small (less than say 5 MB) sample is readily available, please attach it.email to development@z-a-recovery.com (10 MB per message max).
