View Full Version : fat16 over ntfs

Hello,

I came home "in good spirits" one night during the holiday and thought I'd try to recover some data from a SD card. I went to bed thinking I'd set Zlon to copy images from the FAT16 SD card to my NTFS external drive.

I suspect you already know where this is going...

Instead of a HP Pocket Media Drive PD3200 on (F: ) I now have a Lexar Media device FAT formatted over several files.

Any thoughts? I mean, besides the obvious.

Thank you,
Ed

If I understood correctly, obvious idea is that ZAR can probably get you out of this, if you refer here - http://www.z-a-recovery.com/unformat-tutorial.htm

Thank you for your reply.

I tried a scan prior to post. Perhaps I might have included it the first time. Apologies.

Scan revealed:

ID File OFFSET SIZE ORIGIN

01010000 NTFS 7MB 298 GB MBR/EXTENDED
01010200 FAT16 7MB 1914MB SCAN
01010201 NTFS 68127MB 67546MB SCAN
01010202 FAT16 81727MB 1927MB SCAN
01010203 FAT16 92533MB 1927MB SCAN
01010204 FAT16 123765MB 1927MB SCAN
01010205 FAT16 133945MB 1927MB SCAN

I'm wondering if you might assist my beleaguered synapses with a hint to appropriate parameters?

Thank you again,
Ed

This depends on how many volumes were there originally.

If there was only one, then the first line
01010000 NTFS 7MB 298 GB MBR/EXTENDED
looks like a good target?
