OS: Windows XP Home SP3
filesystem NTFS
no configuration changes
Problem:
Harddisc 1,000 GB NTFS formatted with quickformat to 550 GB NTFS
Files which can be restored nero file0001.nrg ......
Files in the root directory were not restored.
Files in sub directories could be repaired.
How do I know the files in root directory restore?
Thanks

If the files in a root directory were not restored at all (i.e. missing), then you need to look through LostFiles/LostFolders sections of the tree to see maybe the files are there. Files for which parent directories are lost or cannot be determined would be placed into LostX folders.
If the files were restored but came out corrupt, there is nothing we can do, except for the case when all files came out corrupt (some settings may be tweaked in this case).

Thanks for the information.
In the directory of LostFolders and LostX are not the lost files.
The harddisk was not again described only Quickformat.
How can I optimize the settings?
Thankyou

Unfortunately I do not see what else we can do. Most likely, the necessary part of the volume was ovewrritten with a blank filesystem information during format. Even during a quick format, a blank MFT, logfile, and certain other structures are written to the volume.
