Alexey, hello! First some background:

I had a pc with WINXP and FAT32 file system. I reformatted with NTFS and installed fresh XP OS.

I realized I hadn't backed up my email. I downloaded your tool, and it was able to recover several iterations of my Outlook Express DBX files.

However, when i tried to import them into Outlook Express, I would received the error "There are no messages in this folder..." even though the DBX file would be the correct size (30mb approx).

I've tried various DBX repair tools but no success.

Any ideas? Is this due to the change from FAT32 to NTFS?

Much appreciated.

Hoop

This is just because that specific files on "old" filesystem are corrupt. The data recovery (http://www.z-a-recovery.com/) after you installed a new OS over it is just a game of chance. The original data was either overwritten, or it is not. This is by the pure luck, not something you or me control. It appears in your case the data was overwritten.

The thing you can try, to restart the recovery the same way, but just before you start, open "Advanced Configuration", "Overrides" and set "Filesystem type" to FAT. This will force ZAR to ignore whatever "new" NTFS data may be on the volume, and may improve the result of the recovery. Other than that, there is nothing we can do.
