Unhappy Samsung HD103SI 1TB

What Happened:
1. the connector broke.
2. I bought a new case and fitted it together.
3. My Laptop said the disk need to be reformated although it was showing in properties as 1TB and almost full.
4. I read about Samsung HD103SI 1TB and saw many people had issues with Windows 7 home premium / Samsung have posted about it and the link to updated drivers goes nowhere.
5. I read about http://datacent.com/datarecovery/hdd...ng/HD103SI+1TB
and how it tends to have problems.
6. It doesn't make any of the strange noises on the web site.
7. The Laptop started to tell me it needed reformating and now in properties it reads 0 spaced used - however it's all blue as if it's full.

8. Downloaded ZAR. Ran the image recovery. all red.
9. Am running the Simple recovery unformat mode. Anyway starts off lots of lovely blue and green then... suddenly backtracks and changes them all to red????? ARGH! 30 mins into the whole thing and it's 3 lines of red. HELP! PLEASE! I'm so sad it has soooo many photographs on it. I mean 6 years worth. I had only just bought another HD to duplicate them as my laptop died.

Get a desktop PC, connect the drive directly to SATA port, and re-do. What you see looks like USB-to-SATA converter choking on a bad block.
