Default Virus attack

Hi
My C drive has been severely botched following a virus attack . I have Isolated the virus, but lots of files are missing . I have run ZAR on the C drive and it has found lots of missing files. However , if I recover them am I just recovering infected files that were removed by my anti virus software, or am I safe to recover and see what comes back. I would be grateful for any help.
Thanks

The files you are recovering may be infected depending on the exact virus modification (does it infect executables? MS Word documents?). In any case, you can recover data and still be safe IF you do not open these recovered files. You need to scan them with the same antivirus you used and make sure the files are clean. Only after that it is OK to open the files.
