Default New User Questions

Hello: I am trying your trial version. I recovered three WORD files, in .docm extension, which I understand is WORD 2007. I have WORD 2003. I downloaded a MS compatibility pak to open 2007 files in 2003 software, but it did not work. Any ideas: why would the files, originally save as Word 2003 docs, be retrieved as Word 2007 docs?

I recovered some files, but not all. The problem originated when I synch'd MyDocs with a "reformatted" external HD and I gather lost files in the process, why I have no idea. Any thoughts?

Thank you in advance.

Ed Fogarty

Files that were originally .doc should not be recovered as .docm. Could you please ZIP and email me the log file, C:\Program Files\ZAR\logfile.txt to development@z-a-recovery.com. All in all, I find this somewhat bizzare, so I'd rather review the log before starting with suggestions.

Could you please double check the files really came out as .docm?
The log file indicates you recovered three files, all with .doc extension (without m). If these files are not readable, then sadly I do not think we can do something. There is no anomaly I can identify as far as the filesystem recovery is concerned.

I'll email to you one of them. I tried the software on my 2nd computer which has the same issue, and there the recovered files were fine: .doc and opened with word. Odd. I'll try the scan again, perhaps.
