My system crashed. I can only start using floppy win98 startup. when I try to run ZAR I get get "only under Win32".
My system has WinXP Pro, sp2, Dell Optiplex GX270, 2 HDD's. I'm trying to recover some files before I reinstall Windows. I don't know how to get around this problem. I'm trying to run ZAR from CD. |

OK, I formatted my disk with the assumption I could recover deleted files. I ran ZAR against logical drive D: which was not formatted. After the analysis I got the message that the save file was not created. Is this because I'm running the evaluation? I don't want to buy ZAR if I can't recover the files/directories I need.

ZAR attempts to store the autosave file into the directory from where you run it. If this location is write protected for some reason, the save file is not written and the warning is emitted. This has no effect on the recovery itself. So you continue till the file/folder tree is displayed to see what it looks like. After that, you can recover a sample set of files to see if they come out good or not.
