Default Demo Worked, Full Version Won't

I recently had a problem with a Maxtor 300Gb drive in an external enclosure where it could not be recognized by the system. BIOS sees the physical drive, but the logical is missing. If I attempt to access the drive through My Computer or Windows Explorer, I get a message that "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."
I had downloaded the demo version of ZAR some time ago, and when I ran it against the affected drive, it recovered the allowed 4 folders and all files were accessable. (It just happens that all of the files in the recovered folders are jpg's.
Based on this success, I purchased the upgrade "key" and re-ran the recovery, saving files to a different target directory. The same files that were successfully recovered with the trial version will not recover with the full version! I'm almost positive that I used the same settings (Simple Volume, etc.), but when I check the saved folder, none of the jpg's can be successfully opened.
The drive in question contains all different types of files, including jpg's. Mpegs, txt, doc, MP3's, etc., and although I have not checked each and every file, it appears that most, if not all, of the recovered files are inaccessible.
Any assistance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
TIA,
John

P.S. I am attempting to run the recovery again, saving files to yet another target destination, and will save the logfile this time. Are the ZAR logfiles automatically saved, and if so where? tks.

The log file is saved unless you specifically turn it off, in
C:\Program Files\ZAR\logfile.txt

that would be useful if the repeated attempt does not help

Alexey,
Thanks for the reply. How would you like me to provide the logfile? It appears to be about 65Mb in size. I can paste it into a post or email it to you, whichever you desire.
The second attempt provided the same results as the first; files cannot be opened. When I attempt to open a jpg, all I see is the "placeholder" (small box with red "X"). MP3's, TXT's, docs, xls files all show as corrupted when try to open them with associated programs (MS Office, etc.).
John

Alexey,
I was able to zip it up to 11Mb and my ISP passed it, so it should be there.
Thanks,
John

You are recovering a Maxtor 6 L300R0 300GB drive.
It was apparently NTFS, single volume.
You need to

1. Start ZAR, open "Advanced Configuration", and switch to "Overrides"
2. Set "Sector offset of the 0th cluster" to 63.
3. Click OK to close configuration.
4. Proceed as usual. Do not load the save file, you need a rescan for the manual mode to take effect.
5. When selecting a volume, you need to pick "Define volume manually", then "There was only one volume". This is apparently the same you did previously.

Should work this way.

Remember that "Overrides" do reset to automatic once you exit ZAR. So if you abort the attempt for some reason, do not forget to set it again.

Alexey,
That did the trick. Completely recovered about 90% of the data. I am extremely happy with the results. What a great product at such a reasonable cost!
Thanks again for all your help.
John
