We have developed Zmeil to
recover email messages from the Outlook databases, should it break down
for some various reasons. Zmeil doesn’t try to
repair PST file "in place", creating a copy instead. This approach
eliminates the risk of further damage to the database. This document
provides all the guidance necessary to recover messages from MS Outlook
PST file.
Preparations
Download Zmeil, then install it just like you do with a
regular software. The evaluation version of Zmeil allows you to recover at most
nine email messages to see what you can expect once you purchase a full version
(get Zmeil for $39.95).
Zmeil does not modify the files where the original emails are
stored. However, you'd rather backup the original information anyway.
Where does Outlook store all the
emails?
Running Zmeil
Start Zmeil
Click "Next>>"
Specify Outlook message database file (.PTS) to recover
Mark the Outlook's message base file(s) you want to recover.
Set "Source Format" to "Outlook (.pst)".
Click "Next>>"
Select the output type. Consider
"Export to Outlook" is slower than the other output
modes.
Do not use "Export to Outlook" if you suspect your
Outlook installation is out of order. If in doubt, use "Save
.EML files" instead, then import the resulting emails into
Outlook Express. You can then transfer these messages back
to Outlook later, when you are done with troubleshooting,
and the Outlook installation works properly.
Click "Next >>" button.
Recovery run
This stage is fully automatic - no action required on your part. Once
the process is completed, Zmeil will switch to the next
screen automatically.
Select messages to recover
Mark messages to recover by clicking their corresponding
checkboxes (use context menu, "Select
everything").
