Hard drive unformat

	Summary
	This tutorial describes the data recovery procedure when the volume was accidentally formatted Windows reports the volume is "raw filesystem", or "not formatted" The recovery is done in seven steps, requiring about eleven (11) mouse clicks. Note: The older than current versions of ZAR might have been used to create the screenshots in this tutorial. We did not update the screenshots if there is no significant difference between older and current versions. If you see some option in the program which is not described in the tutorial, just leave it at its default setting.

	Step  1 - Get, install, and start ZAR
	Get and install ZAR just like you do with any regular program. Buy ZAR ($49.95(US)) When you run it, ZAR displays the window like the one below: Click "Next >>"

	Step 2 - Select processing mode
	Select "Recover data from a simple volume or from a functional RAID volume" Click "Next  >>"

	Step 3 - Select physical device to recover
	Select the appropriate hard drive Click "Next >>" for a list of volumes (logical disks) on this hard drive

	Step 4 - Specify the volume to recover
	Select the appropriate volume from the list Click "Next >>" to start the analysis

	Step 5 - Recovery run
	This part takes about two hours for every 100GB of a disk space to be processed and requires absolutely no intervention.

	Step 6 - Select the files to recover
	Mark files to recover by clicking their corresponding checkboxes Click "Next >>"

	Step 7 - Copy files
	Enter the name of the folder for the recovered files. Click "Start copying the selected files" to start file retrieval.

What I know about ZAR is in my case, it worked. It's interface is clean, uncluttered, and looks pretty neat. Maybe Im just a bit fat computer programmer geek missing the days of the DOS Defrag Utility (you know what I mean huh?). Ok, its €50, but in my case, it's €50 well spent, as Im sure I'll find other things to torture. Nah, if something works, i`m happy to pay for it - I use TheBat! for email rather than a fooked up M$ freebie with more security holes than a lacy blanket.
