Virtual volumes

The concept

The virtual volume definition is required for ZAR to resolve various references used by the filesystem. Correctly defined virtual volume allows the "Follow" feature of a disk viewer to function, greatly simplifying navigation.

Setting up a virtual volume

Using an existing boot sector (recommended approach)
ZAR can define the virtual volume based on the existing boot sector. This is the most reasonable approach if the boot sector looks undamaged. To do so:
  • Navigate to the boot sector
  • Make sure the appropriate view format is selected (you need data to be presented as a boot sector on screen)
  • Pick "Define a virtual volume" on a "Disk viewer" menu.
  • Click "Import ..." button.

Manual operation
If no boot sectors survived, it is possible to enter the data manually. Pick "Define a virtual volume" on a "Disk viewer" menu, then fill in the data as required.

Our customers say

I tried this software with my camera Canon PowerShot S20 (Which windows XP does not see as a drive) and I could not do anything. But if your camera is a drive when you connect it to your computer then this software will do its job. EXCELLENT SOOFTWARE (don't get me wrong...)
