Zlon HDD cloning and imaging

Zlon capabilities

Zlon is a disk imaging tool. It can create a copy of the hard drive in its entirety. Various applications include
  • Simplistic backup implementation (backup the entire physical disk).
  • Securing the evidence in computer forensics.
  • The backed up image can be either deployed onto the physical disk or fed into the data recovery or forensic software (e.g. ZAR).

Disk cloning vs. disk imaging - what's the difference?

"Disk cloning" is a process of creating the identical copy of a physical disk on another physical disk.
The process of deploying multiple identically configured systems by cloning the hard drive of the reference installation is often called "system cloning".

"Disk imaging" implies that a resulting "image" is stored in the file rather than on a disk. The image file is mostly used to hold a dormant copy of data. This copy would not be readily accessible, for there exists no easy way to access the filesystem stored inside the image file.

Our customers say

I tried a couple of programs to recover images from a "broken" SD card and this one was the only one to recover all the images intact. Every case is different of course but you lose nothing as it is free. Wouldn't be without it now. I have no connection with ZAR btw, just a happy user of the software. HTH
